Archive Picture - Sold Out

“This picture, showing Valentino on the 04 Gaulois Yamaha was airbrushed onto a large piece of ‘primed’ mdf rather than my usual drawing board because I wanted to paint it BIG!

Not really a good idea in hindsight because it meant slightly changing the way I work - and no artist is comfortable with that!

I then decided we ought to reproduce this onto canvas (nobody was producing motorcycle art on canvas at that time and I thought we should be the first ). 

So, as is always the case, it was a last minute dash down to the company that was doing the work for us near Tamworth on the Friday morning of the Donington Moto GP to pick up a batch of them.........how many boxed 4ft x 2ft canvasses can you fit in a Ford Fiesta ?

Well, it was all worth it, the reaction to the picture was one of disbelief!

Halfway through the limited edition of 175, I decided it was time to invest in my first large format printer and gain total control of the finished prints.  A steep learning curve, but over the last 4 years or so, I think I've just about got the hang of it.

This image sold out long ago, but it represents a turning point in the way I work.”
